12 ounces semisweet chocolate pieces
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar.
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups Quaker Oats, uncooked (quick or old-fashioned)
1 cup chopped nuts.
Powdered sugar optional
Method:
Melt the chocolate pieces.
Soften the margarine.
Soften the cream cheese.
Beat together the cream cheese, margarine and both sugars until creamy.
At eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Add melted chocolate and mix well.
Add combined flour and baking soda, mix well.
Stir in the Oats and nuts, mix well.
Cover and chill for at least one hour.
Heat oven to 350°F.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
Place the balls 3 inches apart on an greased cookie sheet.
Bake for eight to 10 minutes or until cookies are almost set (centres should still be moist. Do not overbake).
Cool for one minute on cookie sheet and remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired
