Batter
1 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup Sugar
1 Tablespoon Unsweetened Cocoa
1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder.
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
3/4 Cup Beer
1/3 cup oil
1 egg slightly beaten
Syrup:
one tablespoon unsweetened Cocoa
3/4 cup beer
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
Method
:
For the batter, mixed dry ingredients; make a well in the centre.
Add beer, oil and egg, beating until just smooth.
For the syrup, make a paste of the cocoa and a little bigger.
Add remaining beer and sugars.
Heat to boiling.
Pour batter into a greased 8 inch square baking pan
drizzle syrup over the top.
Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
Cool for about five minutes then loosen sides of cake from pan and input onto platter.
Even the pudding layer with a knife and serve warm or cool.
This cake is best done outside as the aroma is quite powerful.
